Welcome to FixWiz (Pty) Ltd (“FixWiz”, “we”, “our” or “us”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us when you visit https://fixwiz.co.za (the “Site”) or use our handyman-booking services (the “Services”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard your information, and what choices you have.


1. Scope

This Policy applies to visitors, customers and service-providers who:

  • browse the Site;

  • request a quote or make a booking;

  • communicate with us by phone, email, WhatsApp or any other channel; or

  • interact with our social-media pages or advertising.

It is drafted to comply with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, where relevant, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for EU/EEA visitors.

3. How We Use Your Information

  1. Service Delivery – confirm bookings, dispatch technicians, send ETA notifications and job-completion reports.

  2. Payments & Invoicing – process fees via PayFast and issue tax invoices.

  3. Customer Support – respond to enquiries, troubleshoot, and manage complaints.

  4. Reviews & Testimonials – request feedback and display star-ratings (first name & suburb only).

  5. Marketing (optional) – send promotions, surveys or newsletters if you have opted in.

  6. Analytics & Security – analyse traffic, detect fraud, prevent unauthorised access, and improve our Site.

We rely on one or more of the following legal bases:

  • your consent;

  • performance of a contract (providing the Services you request);

  • legal obligations (tax, accounting, POPIA);

  • our legitimate interests (running and protecting our business).


 

4. Cookies & Similar Technologies

The Site uses first- and third-party cookies for:

  • core functionality (session cookies, language preference);

  • analytics (Google Analytics 4);

  • marketing (Facebook/Meta Pixel, Google Ads Remarketing);

  • chat widgets (Tawk.to or similar).

6. International Transfers

Some service providers (e.g. Microsoft 365, Meta) may store data on servers outside South Africa. We ensure they:

  • are in countries with adequate data-protection laws, or

  • have binding corporate rules or standard contractual clauses in place.


 

7. Data Retention

  • Booking & invoicing records: 5 years (SARS compliance).

  • Customer support records: 3 years after last interaction.

  • Marketing consent logs: until you withdraw consent or 5 years, whichever comes first.

  • CCTV or call recordings (if any): 30 days, unless required for investigations.

When retention periods expire, data is securely deleted or anonymised.


 

8. Your Rights

Under POPIA/GDPR you may:

  1. Access – ask what personal data we hold about you.

  2. Correct – update inaccurate or incomplete data.

  3. Delete – request erasure where legally permissible.

  4. Object / Restrict – stop certain processing (e.g., direct marketing).

  5. Data Portability – obtain a copy in a structured format (where applicable).

  6. Withdraw Consent – unsubscribe at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.

  • End-to-end TLS/SSL encryption on all pages.

  • Role-based access controls for staff & technicians.

  • Regular malware scans and WordPress security updates.

  • Incident-response plan aligned with POPIA breach-notification rules.


 

10. Third-Party Links

The Site may link to external websites (e.g., insurance partners). We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies before sharing data.


 

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Site after such changes constitutes acceptance.
